“Egyptian groove and technique”
Looking for An exciting high energy way to trim your waist and get toned into shape, while learning the sensual movements of Egyptian style belly dance. This class includes building strength, flexibility, and endurance combined with the art of Middle Eastern dance. This class is structured in learning the intriguing movements of Middle Eastern dance and building good belly dance technique, while working out to the hottest Middle Eastern beats! No previous dance experience is needed! Also experienced dancer are welcomed to “refine” and practice your dance technique while burning LOTS of calories!
TUESDAY NIGHTS: 7:45PM – 8:45PM/6 week session starts: Jan 3- Feb 7th

“ARABIC FOLKLORE AND BEYOND “
Dances from the Arabic world and beyond. Dance styles includes: Khaleeji (my specialty), saidii (with and with out cane) , haggala, nubian, persian bandari, baba karam, debke (various styles), meleya leff, shamadan, eskanderani, moroccan shikkat and more. You will learn the history and back ground of these dances as well as the musicality!

January 7th: CLASS TOPIC: Assaya (with and with out cane):
Raqs Assaya is generally accepted throught the Middle East as having originated in Egypt. The dance is call “raqs masri” in some arab countries, which means “dance of Egypt.” Raqs Assaya means “dance of the stick,” or “cane.” focused on the various ways in which a cane can be used to accent your belly dance performances. These sessions will be appropriate for all skill levels and dance genre. We will dive into technique that includes the Egyptian folkloric martial art Tahtib, Reda-influenced combinations, and American Tribal Style moves that are based on traditional cane work.
January 14th : CLASS TOPIC: Khaleeji dance 101: True culture and tradition: (MY SPECIALITY
)
“Khaleeji” to refer to the style of dance and music from the Persian Gulf or Arabian Gulf region, the “Khaleej,” including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE. The dance is largely improvisational, performed by pairs or groups of women for their own entertainment at special celebrations, such as weddings. As this dance represents many countries of the Gulf region, Khadijah will instruct proper costuming, musicality, posture, history and background and much more
January 21st: CLASS TOPIC:Modern Cairo Egyptian technique and beyond:
Define and refine your Egyptian shimmy style. Add layers and understand how and where to use them in modern Raqs Sharqi. We will use combinations to illustrate the techniques and transitions within the dance.
Intermediate/Advanced Middle Eastern Dance I: EMAIL ME FOR DETAILS PLEASE!
(new choreography and hot belly dance combinations will be taught in this class) Finger Cymbals (zills) and Veils will be needed for this class. This class is geared towards students that have mastered all basic concepts of Middle Eastern dance and ready to move on; this class will focus on techniques up to the advanced level: layering, shimmies, traveling, balancing, short combinations, isolations, short choreography while using the finger cymbals, veils and other props used through out the Middle-East.
